Laura Wilson

Success Story

Social Worker at Hamilton Elementary School, Westland, MI

Challenges

Hamilton Elementary has 447 students with a 41.3% BIPOC population — and a significant population of unhoused students. Laura Wilson, a dedicated school social worker, needed help connecting them to care. Like the majority of school health professionals, Laura's role also involves commitments outside of care coordination and insurance navigation. She also runs a garden club, coordinates a Christmas present donation program, volunteers as a cheer coach, and organizes the annual Princess Dance .

Solutions

Through Wayne-Westland Community Schools partnership with Care Solace, Laura refers Hamilton students and families to Care Solace when they need immediate and long-term mental health care support — and she stays informed every step of the way. Care Solace acts as an extension of her team and takes work off her plate, so she can invest even more into the school community she loves.

Hamilton Elementary is fortunate to have Laura on staff, and we are glad Care Solace can make her life and work easier.
