Suicide Prevention, Awareness, Treatment
September is Suicide Prevention Month, a time where suicidal ideation can be talked about in depth, and without stigma.
In recognition of this, we have put together a series of life-saving resources for school staff, families, and students to explore and start honest conversations about belonging, being a companion, and most importantly, how to seek help.
A Student Conversation on Belonging and Suicide Prevention
Care Solace sat down with high schoolers to hear their thoughts on the state of mental health in their generation.
Watch and reflect with peers, students, or family members with the guided questions below:
-
Can you relate to any of the feelings shared by these students? What emotions come up?
-
How has watching this video influenced your perspective on mental health and stigma?
-
What role can schools and communities play in promoting mental health awareness?

As a parent, how do I recognize signs of mental health struggles?
The Child Mind Institute has partnered with Positive Parenting Thriving kids who authored a video project interviewing parents who have children struggling with mental health issues.
In this video, parents sit down with their kids to talk about what they saw, what they missed, how they responded, and what their child really needed.
Watch the video and reflect with youth using the discussion guide.
